North Wyke manor house in South Tawton was the Devonshire seat of the Wyke (or Wykes) family from the 1242 to 1714, and was the family residence of John 'Warrior' Wykes (c.1525-1591) and his wife Mary Giffard (d.1598). John is credited with completing the building of the mansion.
