ARTHUR GIFFARD GRAVE 1648

ST JAMES' CHURCH, PARKHAM, DEVON

The pavement gravestone of Arthur Giffard, who died in infancy (1646-1648). He was the son of Thomas Giffard (1607-1648) and Katherine Leach (d. 1666) whose second child was a daughter, Katherine, who died young (1648-1663).
The child Arthur was a descendant of an earlier Thomas Giffard of Halsbury(1442-1532), which links him, albeit distantly, to the Giffards of Bightleigh.

The gravestone is inscribed as follows:
