Seen in situ, this mural tablet in the south aisle of Exeter Cathedral bears the inscription: T.OKES, M.D. AETAT. 66 A.D. 1797.
Thomas Okes (1730-1797) was a physician at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He married Ann Otto-Baijer (1749-1835) in 1789. Ann's youngest sister was Elizabeth Otto-Baijer/ Sercombe (1769-1848) who was great-grandmother to Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922).
