ARTHUR GIFFARD
Giffard Memorial,
St Hieritha's Church, Chittlehampton
Arthur Giffard (1580-1616) predeceased his father John Giffard (1552-1622) who settled the family estate of Brightleigh on Arthur's son Colonel John Giffard (1602-1665) who erected the memorial in 1625 of which this kneeling effigy is part.
Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922) is directly descended from Arthur Giffard and his wife Agnes Leigh (1580-1625).
