Stanley Lees Giffard (1788-1858) and Mary Ann Giffard (1816-1869) were the first occupants of 39 Myddelton Square, where they stayed until 1857 (see Appendix 25). Myddelton is the largest square in Clerkenwell. This view of the square, taken in 1939, also shows St Mark's Church, an unusual feature in a London residential square.
