Edward Hill (1637-1700) owned Shirley Plantation in Virginia and was father of Martha Hill (1678-1752) who married Henry Giffard (1675-1710). Martha's portrait still hangs at Shirley, and is said to be haunted.
Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922) is directly descended from Martha and Henry Giffard.
