4-6 Regent Square, former site of the 'Home of Hope - for the Restoration of Fallen and the Protection of Friendless Young Women'. Established in 1860, no.4 Regent Square was opened specifically to house pregnant women until they gave birth, while no.6 was set aside for women who had been rescued 'before they fell'. Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922) was resident there when she had her son Walter Stanley in 1878.
