My great-grandmother Mary Emma Sercombe was born in late 1859 and died in 1922. Sercombe is an unusual name, and was the initial inspiration for my digging into family history connected with it, which in turn revealed a pedigree that includes names such as Giffard, Otto-Baijer, Hester and Tree. My research revealed so much interesting, often fascinating, material that I decided to publish what has become a large and ongoing project. The Introduction tells more about this site’s contents, while the other written sections give a full account of my research. The Gallery includes photographs of people, places and objects, portraits and original documents.
